A View of Tombs at Secundrii near Agra

William Hodges, one of the first landscape artists to arrive in India, traveled to Agra and nearby Sikandra in 1783. His view of the tomb of Akbar, set amidst tombs of other members of the royal family, was lithographed as plate 40 of "Select Views in India" published in London between 1785-8.
